Unconditional Love
In a world where love is often conditional, unconditional love can be a powerful force that has the ability to heal, transform, and uplift. It is a love that is always available to us, when we are willing to give it freely and receive it with an open heart.
Falling in love with life itself is what brings joy into our lives. Unconditional love is freely given, without any requirements or limitations. There are no judgements or expectations.
Maybe the key to understanding the meaning of life is embracing its inherent contradiction: the tension between intense feelings and apathy, between significance and emptiness.
We never know the ripples we create in the world. But to create ripples, we show up and embody unconditional love.
Love in Everything
By acknowledging that life is a continuous cycle of fluctuating experiences, we can fall in love with the preciousness of existence. And be fully present in each moment.
Mary Oliver in her poem, Invitation reminds us that anything is possible when we fall in love with life itself.
“Oh do you have time
to linger
for just a little while
out of your busy
and very important day
for the goldfinches
that have gathered
in a field of thistles
for a musical battle,
to see who can sing
the highest note,
or the lowest,
or the most expressive of mirth,
or the most tender?
Their strong blunt beaks
drink the air
as they strive
melodiously
not for your sake
and not for mine
and not for the sake of winning
but for sheer delight and gratitude–
believe us, they say,
it is a serious thing
just to be alive
on this fresh morning
in this broken world.
I beg of you,
do not walk by
without pausing
to attend to this
rather ridiculous performance.
It could mean something.
It could mean everything.
It could be what Rilke meant, when he wrote:
You must change your life.”
