Personal Accountability is Waiting for Us
We are at a turning point right now and the rest is up to each of us when we take personal accountability. When we are truly honest with ourselves, we will see, maybe for the first time, that we are responsible for everything around us. There is no one to blame, shame or judge when we take personal accountability for our part.
There are an increasing number of people who have resources—savings, inheritances and retirements—that no longer make sense within the dying systems that surround us and are making different choices and investments. And we are starting to understand that we can become the transformative agents of change in this time; building communities and systems that we need right now may be our wisest investment instead of accumulating more and more stuff or paying for a false sense of safety. It starts when we become aware and then, let go of limiting beliefs, open ourselves to questioning everything and listening to the deep whispers of our hearts.
Nothing will ever be the same when we do and until we find the others who believe there is another way. It’s not easy when we see the veil of reality while so many are in denial but we no longer want to be consumers and play roles in stories that are toxic for our well-being. There is a healthier way of life that we can choose. And the only way to start is to plant seeds in our own garden.
Transformation is A Natural Call to Personal Accountability
Sometimes our biggest gifts are disguised as what society calls failures and disappointments. Healing is an inside job. Challenges become problems when we allow ourselves to react without taking the time to think and feel through situations. Sometimes our heart is calling us to weed out what is obstructing the energy at our core, and many of us have learned not to listen to its call.
But strength comes from facing our challenges and moving away from the norm by transforming them into our greatest opportunities. When we can look at a challenge and examine its root cause, we take a step toward self-awareness and mastery. We are always free to choose our own experience and adventure, even at times when the external world is calling us to take sides and fight for our lives—which is the current story of our times.
Once you’re in harmony and balance within yourself—physical, mental, and emotional balance—you can tinker and reset the harmony around you, trusting universal laws and the pure flow of life itself. Because only you control how you react to anything and everything.
A Healthy Future is on the Horizon
You will not change the external world by snapping your fingers or fighting your way through life. In times of transformation, and even crisis, you face an opportunity to reframe your situation instead of fighting it. You get to know that you are enough and when enough is actually enough. You can decide that you no longer need to be trapped in the ways you used to react; you can invest in learning to tap into your expansive courage to live a healthy life.
As Dutch psychiatrist, author, and educator Bessel van der Kolk shares in his work on trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), “When people are constantly and compulsively pulled back into the past to the last time they felt deep involvement in deep emotions, they suffer from a failure of imagination, a loss of mental flexibility. Without imagination, there is no hope, no chance to envision” a healthy future, no place to explore, no reason to follow your heart.
Imagination can drive the quality of your life. It gifts you the ability to envision opportunities and play with them through your creative spirit. Finding a way to tap into your intuition and imagination that works for you is a personal thing, just like taking personal accountability for your choices.
It’s a different process for each of us to learn how to stop whatever we are busy doing and invest our full resources into being in touch with our deep calling.
You are being invited to the biggest transformation on the planet today, but it’s up to you to take the first steps. Is it time to unleash yourself like never before? Is it time to call on your curiosity and courage and trust life as you purge, cleanse, and release all that no longer serves you?
Be willing to make subtle changes that feel healthy to you. Place your intention on being the best you can be and step out of any of the old programming that no longer resonates. Hold space without judgment or needing to fix or save someone else. Jiddu Krishnamurti helps us understand that “In oneself lies the whole world and if you know how to look and learn, the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, except yourself.”
