“Do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know the side you are used to is better than the one to come?—Rumi
We often like to feel in control, yet sometimes the very controls we set up hold us back. Therefore, when this happens, life steps in, prompting changes necessary, often by stirring things up by turning them upside down. These changes, or situations that leave us feeling uncomfortable and powerless, may be happening right now.
Consequently, these moments offer a chance to learn about ourselves, especially about the power within us or held by others. They provide a prime opportunity to end situations where we’ve given our power away or trusted blindly; at our own expense. Stepping into our own strength means facing our inner demons.
By turning upside down, we open up avenues to connect and break away from old habits and beliefs. Similarly, not everyone will join us on this journey as we forge our own paths. But are we courageous enough to set the foundation for a new direction, engaging our intelligence and hearts to create what truly sustains us?
In this context, it is crucial to understand the difference between force and power. Force motivates through manipulation, control, and ego. However, when someone acts from a place of inner power, we embrace humility, compassion, and strength. Making meaning our North Star.
While force responds to challenges with coercion and effort, aiming to maintain control and often yielding short-lived results, true power emerges from authenticity and alignment with our deeper values, effortlessly influencing our surroundings and producing lasting health.
We don’t need to struggle; instead, simply increasing our awareness allows us to tap into this power. Resistance is always a lesson. And as a result, when we stop fighting and resisting, everything transforms. Unfortunately, there’s no easy fix for awareness. It requires hard work, honesty, and kindness towards ourselves and then each other. Also, it means embracing humility over arrogance and providing an antidote to our era of designed forced divisions.
The heart unlocks a life without walls, connecting us to life’s natural rhythms through its essence. Viktor Frankl reminds us that our ultimate freedom lies in choosing our attitude toward uncontrollable circumstances. “When we cannot change a situation, we must challenge ourselves to change.”
Maybe there is no need to fear drastic changes that push us into the unknown. Being uncomfortable turns us upside down and maybe it’s needed right now. because it is the unknown that guides us most. Can we welcome our courage, embrace the uncertainty, and trust in ourselves? After all, if there was nothing to learn and experience, why would we be here?
