Possibility in Everything

There is a well known story of a guy on a burning drilling platform in the middle of the ocean trying to find any possibility to live. Every safety training session Andy attended instructed him that his chances of survival were higher if he stayed on the burning platform. 

But when he was in that same exact situation in real life and saw the devastation around him with people dying, he decided to trust his heart and trek into the unknown.

The only option he saw was to plunge 15 stories in the water below, which could also kill him. In his mind, possible death outweighed certain death. 

It doesn’t matter how stressful life gets, there is always a way forward. We may not like the choices in front of us, and it may be very difficult. But there is always a way. 

There is Always A Way

Despite what we are taught and told, thinking for ourselves is key when we have our own burning platform and go through our own trials and tribulations. While some things may seem out of control and bleak at times, there is always a way to break through, after we get in touch with the root of what is holding us back. 

Trusting our intuition can sometimes lead to difficult choices, such as letting go of people who don’t support us, even people we’ve spent a lot of time with. Sometimes it’s a job that is causing us harm or a way of living that is unhealthy. And we can’t see any way out or possibility. 

We may not always like the door that opens up to us or the choices we need to make. And we may feel very alone at times. But it is in these times that we learn to release and not carry unnecessary baggage with us everywhere we go. 

Life has taught me to set my own course and question established conventions rather than arbitrarily accept them. When we don’t have the “right” ticket to get in the door, we can imagine other pathways or stay trapped when we choose to conform. 

I have found ways, without having the correct ticket, to get the gatekeeper to allow me in. Or I simply take the road less traveled and never look back. There is always a way through to the truth, and it takes curiosity, courage and playfulness.

The Spark of Possibility

The question is are we ready to see the opportunity to build, transform and adopt something healthier for ourselves when we play with possibilities? How can we set our life on fire and ignite our path in this very moment?
